Short Biography

Artist/Musician/Engineer.

He was born in 1981 in Kanagawa, Japan and is living in Kyoto, Japan. His aesthetics is to create organic and complexity by emphasizing its characteristics while using technically minimal elements such as sine wave, pulse, dots, line, and some calculated noise function.

He has selected for the Grand Prize of Japan Media Arts Festival(2019, Japan), Digital Choc Award(2018, Japan/France) organized by Institut Français du Japon and the finalist for CYNETART Award(2018, Germany) with his work “Pulses/Grains/Phase/Moiré“.

He is a co-founder of a sound art project The SINE WAVE ORCHESTRA since 2002 which has received the Grant from the Saxon State Minister for Higher Education, Research and the Arts at Cynetart Awards(2018, Germany), the Jury Selections of Art Division in Japan Media Arts Festival(2018, Japan), Stiftung Niedersachsen works stipends at Edith-Russ-Haus für Medienkunst(2009, Germany) and Honorary Mention of Digital Musics category in the Prix Ars Electronica(2019 / 2004, Austria).

As a musician, he played his audio/visual works in several international festivals such as MUTEK.JP(Japan, 2019), WSK X: Festival of the Recently Possible(Philippines, 2019), Mazeum(Japan, 2018), Yebisu International Festival for Art and Alternative Visions(Japan, 2016), KYOTOGRAPHIE(Japan, 2014), Sonar Sound Tokyo(Japan, 2013/2011) and Ars Electronica(Austria, 2004).

He has joined to the artist collective Dumb Type established in 1984 since 2014. He has participated in theater works of Shiro TAKATANI as a project member since 2008.

He is also working as Engineer/Technical Collaborator for artists such as Shiro TAKATANI, Ryuichi SAKAMOTO, Masahiro MIWA, Ulf Langheinrich, and so on.
